Thank you so much for giving of your time and talents today for Hive.  We greatly appreciate your generosity.

I was so pleased that the gentleman in the audience was moved to stand up and thank you for your superb music.  I think he expressed the feelings of everyone there.

Adriene, that you sing so beautifully and also offer for sale your lovely cards and pictures is very much appreciated. Being able to purchase cards which cannot be found elsewhere makes them particularly special.  Thank you.

You both have such an exquisite feel for the music you play and an easy rapport between you. We very much liked the theme of ‘colours’ which you chose and the variety of music which you performed – the Chinese piece did sound Chinese – how clever!  Your concerts have such an expressive and ‘magical’ feel to them and the music you choose to play transports your audience to a special place.

Today, even with a comparatively small audience (18), your concert raised for Hive a total of £71.30 – thank you. I’m sure that the funeral of a well-known Sudbury citizen that day did reduce the numbers attending.  I always regret attracting lower audience numbers when such a special concert is offered and do hope you were not too disappointed that the seats were not all occupied – they should have been  It was such a treat for us all. Thank you both very much indeed.

Recollections of The Great War 1914-1918

A play to mark the Centenary of World War 1 was performed in aid of “You Are Not Alone”, the Mental Health Charity for Farming and Rural Residents, at Crow’s Hall, Debenham, Suffolk on 11th November 2018. This moving play opened with a scene set in a “Palace of Varieties”, just before the outbreak of the War.

Adriene Ellis on Flute, with Anne Chorley playing Harp, gave a most convincing performance of pre-1914 music that would have been heard in Music Halls of the time. The clear tone of Adriene Ellis’ flute soaring to the rafters of the Barn combined with the rippling notes of Anne Chorley’s Celtic Harp enthralled the audience. The music ranged from “Down at the Old Bull and Bush”, “The Pipes of Pan”, “Love’s Old Sweet Song” to “The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo”, thus giving a good sense of the period. The charming talented Duo greatly enhanced the performance and enjoyment of the play”.
