Music in the church at Walsham le Willows Open Gardens weekend, August 2023
For many years St Mary’s Church in Walsham Le Willows has played host to the art exhibition and flower displays that have become an integral part of the Open Gardens event, held over the August Bank Holiday. This year, we were treated to the additional pleasures of a Flute and Celtic Harp duo that floated effortlessly and clearly around the church. Set in as background to the displays on show, it rapidly became an impromptu concert. The beautiful and sometimes haunting melodies of some of our best-known 20th Century classics, traditional and folk tunes was a pure delight and had people coming back for more over the 4 performances. It was a real treat to sit and immerse ourselves in these wonderful tunes, in a building designed to send music spiralling up to the heavens, and surrounded by the evocative and energising results of artistic labours. Summertime (remember Ella?), The Rose, Down by The Salley Gardens, Blow the Wind Southerly, Greensleeves, The Star of The County Down and more. The aptly named Angels Delight: Adriene Ellis and Anne Chorley will have made special memories for those lucky enough to have found them.

… In particular I would like to say how very much we enjoyed the new addition of the wonderful music supplied by Angels Delight in St. Mary’s church. We were able to sit in the church for 45 minutes on Monday afternoon and let their beautiful playing of the ‘Folk Songs of the British Isles’ transport us. I do hope Adriene Ellis and Anne Chorley enjoyed playing for us as much as we enjoyed listening to them. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they were able to be part of next years’ Open Gardens Weekend.
An afternoon concert and quiz at Bury St Edmunds Southgate Church Friendship Club, August 2023
Thank you so much for coming to our Friendship Club Cream Tea. It was so good of you to give up your time to play for us and for all the preparation and organization that must have gone into it beforehand. As ever your playing was beautiful and such a lovely repertoire of music for our trip around the world. The quiz was wonderful and it all seemed to go down so well…. everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

A community concert to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, May 2023
On the afternoon of Saturday 6th May, a concert for the coronation was held in the parish church of St Peter and St Paul, Clare, Suffolk and was attended by around 150 people.
Angels Delight harp and flute duo (Adriene Ellis and Anne Chorley) were among those who performed a varied selection of celebratory music including several traditional folk melodies from the four nations of the UK.
They also played some pieces which are particular favourites of King Charles, such as Mozart’s Papageno’s Song from the Magic Flute and Hearts of Oak, the British Naval Anthem.
Their playing was delightful and very well received, and the audience happily sang along to Hearts of Oak and Land of Hope and Glory.
We hope very much that they will come back to Clare to entertain us again in the not too distant future.
A programme of flute & harp favourites at Melford Antiques Interiors & Lifestyle Centre
Spent a very enjoyable hour recently in Long Melford, listening to the charming sounds of Angels Delight, two lovely ladies playing flute and celtic harp; instruments which complimented each other beautifully in a blend of traditional, classical and contemporary pieces, woven to form a tapestry of musical pleasure. Would highly recommend to all music lovers!
An evening concert at St Peter’s Church, Sible Hedingham, March 2023
On Saturday evening we welcomed Angels Delight to our village church for a wonderful evening’s entertainment. Our audience ranged from 9 to 90 and I have been overwhelmed with positive reviews, in fact I have already sold several tickets to the next concert in our neighbouring village.
The evening felt so intimate with your narration of each piece, and I especially enjoyed learning more about the harp.
It was obvious for all to see how passionate you are about the music you played and your instruments.
I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Just to say that M and I got so much pleasure from your recital.I am only 1/8 Welsh but you made me feel 100% Welsh with your lovely playing of the Welsh folk songs, nearly all of which I knew, and the words too. It was such a lovely interlude of tranquility in the stresses of life. Many thanks for a delightful afternoon.
