A community concert to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, May 2023

On the afternoon of Saturday 6th May, a concert for the coronation was held in the parish church of St Peter and St Paul, Clare, Suffolk and was attended by around 150 people.

Angels Delight harp and flute duo (Adriene Ellis and Anne Chorley) were among those who performed a varied selection of celebratory music including several traditional folk melodies from the four nations of the UK.

They also played some pieces which are particular favourites of King Charles, such as Mozart’s Papageno’s Song from the Magic Flute and Hearts of Oak, the British Naval Anthem.

Their playing was delightful and very well received, and the audience happily sang along to Hearts of Oak and Land of Hope and Glory.

We hope very much that they will come back to Clare to entertain us again in the not too distant future.

A programme of flute & harp favourites at Melford Antiques Interiors & Lifestyle Centre

Spent a very enjoyable hour recently in Long Melford, listening to the charming sounds of Angels Delight, two lovely ladies playing flute and celtic harp; instruments which complimented each other beautifully in a blend of traditional, classical and contemporary pieces, woven to form a tapestry of musical pleasure. Would highly recommend to all music lovers!

An evening concert at St Peter’s Church, Sible Hedingham, March 2023

On Saturday evening we welcomed Angels Delight to our village church for a wonderful evening’s entertainment. Our audience ranged from 9 to 90 and I have been overwhelmed with positive reviews, in fact I have already sold several tickets to the next concert in our neighbouring village.

The evening felt so intimate with your narration of each piece, and I especially enjoyed learning more about the harp.

It was obvious for all to see how passionate you are about the music you played and your instruments.

I look forward to seeing you again soon.

A programme of Welsh music at Melford Antiques Interiors & Lifestyle Centre

Just to say that M and I got so much pleasure from your recital.I am only 1/8 Welsh but you made me feel 100% Welsh with your lovely playing of the Welsh folk songs, nearly all of which I knew, and the words too. It was such a lovely interlude of tranquility in the stresses of life. Many thanks for a delightful afternoon.

An afternoon concert at Bury St Edmunds Southgate Church Friendship Club, August 2022

‘Angels Delight’ were truly delightful when Anne with her beautiful harp and Adriene on flute played for our Southgate Church Friendship Club Cream tea afternoon last August. The lovely light summery music was very much appreciated by all and played with such expertise and feeling.

The beautiful cards that Adriene produces and sells for Various Charities (including the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice) were also well received.

We look forward to welcoming this talented duo back to our Friendship Club hopefully in the not too distant future… perhaps to another Cream tea afternoon!-

Recollections of The Great War 1914-1918

A play to mark the Centenary of World War 1 was performed in aid of “You Are Not Alone”, the Mental Health Charity for Farming and Rural Residents, at Crow’s Hall, Debenham, Suffolk on 11th November 2018. This moving play opened with a scene set in a “Palace of Varieties”, just before the outbreak of the War.

Adriene Ellis on Flute, with Anne Chorley playing Harp, gave a most convincing performance of pre-1914 music that would have been heard in Music Halls of the time. The clear tone of Adriene Ellis’ flute soaring to the rafters of the Barn combined with the rippling notes of Anne Chorley’s Celtic Harp enthralled the audience. The music ranged from “Down at the Old Bull and Bush”, “The Pipes of Pan”, “Love’s Old Sweet Song” to “The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo”, thus giving a good sense of the period. The charming talented Duo greatly enhanced the performance and enjoyment of the play”.
